NODA 2019 will offer competence courses at the pre conference Thursday 14th and also at the conference at the 15th of November.
The courses are only open to those who register for the conference. Groups of participants from newsrooms are welcome for special arrangements and tarifs.
The number of seats are limited, and offered on a a first come, first serve basis.

Machine Learning for journalists and programmers
Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim houses the Norwegian Open AI Lab (NAIL) which is the powerhouse of AI Education and AI Research in Norway.
In cooperation with NxtMedia, we can offer an intensive training in ML-techniques and AI technologies by student popular teachers. This exclusive opportunity will be attractive to investigative teams, especially journalists and programmers. The course presupposes data competence beyond elementary knowledge.

How to coach data journalists
This pre-conference crash course is offered to those who are editorial leaders coaching data journalists and investigative reporters along with other duties. At the course participants met top Nordic editorial leaders who described their experience in day-to-day work, methods, tools, cases and experiences. Participants will be given the chance to voice their challenges and get advice.
The course is possible to be tailored for groups from one company.

Fact-checking with Faktisk.no
What are the tools and methods in modern fact-checking?
Faktisk.no – the Norwegian fact-checker owned and supported by the six major publishers in Norway - will give a special course at NODA to teach how they contribute to an open, inclusive and fact-based public conversation. By reviewing the basis of current statements that affect the perception of reality, Faktisk.no are working for a fact-based verbal and constructive community debate. Faktisk.no will also uncover and prevent the spread of fictional messages that claim to be real news.

How to lead multidisciplinary teams
In teamwork the result depends on different skills working on an equal basis. Modern journalism often team up designers, programmers and other skilled persons. How do we lead a group with interdisciplinary competences to get the best out of the pack. This course will be a workshop and a part of the program - NODA.
